pleasant surprises come at the most unexpected times. on the way back on 190 today, i received a call from overseas. for a moment, i told it was azka who called, but it was jajung oppa from korea. haha he said he missed us and he wanted to hear our voices.
jajung is one amazing person. he was the first korean (apart from immsoon si) who came up to introduce himself to us. he was really friendly and interesting. hehe 0ur three weeks in korea was made fabulous because of immsoon, jajung, t.k, jikhan, sora,hye ryoung, tae yoon, grace, soen mi, ji hyun, jennifer, emilie and many more. they really really great and special care of andy, liz and me. anyway, yeah jajung is really brillant. he works part time during semester to earn funds for his vacation humanitarian trips. he has travlled to vietnam, pakistan and now he is going to india for two months. he also wakes up at 5 am everyday to attend english language classes at 6 am at his uni. amazing.
immsoon is not any less lacklustre. this brillant lady speaks korean, chinese and english. impeccably i have to add. this is not mean feat, especially in Korea. given that they have a homogenous society being able to speak more than one language is already rare. but she speaks 3. in fact, she did her first degree at the Seoul National University (the top uni there, where only the top 1% of the cohort gains entry) and is doing her second degree at Seoul Education University where she's training to be a teacher.
the rest of them, heh. Ji Hyun is in UK, studying english, Jennifer studies design, Emilie speaks Japanese, French and English in addition to Korean, Soen Mi studies engineering, the rest are all undergraduates in like the top 3 universities in Korea. these are truly brillant and exceptional people. they made me feel so ashamed and small of myself.
anyway, yeah i just realised that adrian isnt in singapore as well and david is leaving for france on sat. it really seems like i dont have any friends left in singapore. those who are around, dont have time for me, or cant be bothered to spend time with me. hai so sad.
miche has no friends; preparing to go for a run in 15 mins time.
